The Dairy House

Our Farms, Herds and People

Sustainable farming in the heart of Herefordshire

The unique blend of milk for our products comes from our own four farms. The farms are in the heart of Herefordshire, which is on the border with England and Wales. It’s a beautiful, unspoilt and rural county, famous for its rich, fertile soils.

Our farms are certified organic. Under DEFRA’s Environmental Stewardship scheme we have been awarded Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) status. This means our farms are seen to deliver significant benefits to the environment.

Healthy, happy Jersey and Friesian cows

Our herds are a mixture of Jersey and Friesian cows. We have one exclusively Jersey herd – it’s one of only six in the UK. Another of our herds has been on record for so long, it’s even mentioned in the Domesday Book!

Our cows even have their own names. We believe in giving them the highest possible quality of life. The reward for our ethical and sustainable approach is better quality milk. It’s rich, creamy, high in natural vitamins and minerals and has a unique, distinctive taste.

Farmers who are connected with the business

The four farmers who own our farms don’t just look after the cows. They’re also involved with every aspect of the business from tastings to marketing strategies.

A team of people committed to the making the finest dairy products you’ll ever taste

Because the quality of our milk is so high, we want the quality of any ingredients we add to match this. We use the very best organic fruit in our yoghurts, much of which is grown on our own farms or sourced locally where possible. This adds heritage to our products and reduces unnecessary food miles. We use artisan methods and traditional recipes to keep the natural goodness and flavour of the ingredients.

It’s this passion and commitment that makes The Dairy House products so special.
